Holly & Lucy married on Sunday 18th August 2019 at the gorgeous Coworth Park in Ascot. I had first met the couple earlier in the year after their original photographer had unfortunately cancelled on them. Luckily for me, I had the date free and was able to fill the void.
This was the first time I had photographed 2 brides and I was a little unsure how to manage the bridal prep, on my own. across 2 different locations, albeit in the same hotel. Thankfully, Holly and Lucy were located on the same floor, a short distance apart, which enabled me to switch rooms very easily.
I went to Holly first, who was so relaxed and welcoming, which instantly put me at ease. I started with some detail shots, before getting some shots of Holly having her hair and makeup done.
I then went onto to Lucy's room. Lucy was extremely organised and had already got into her dress awaiting the arrival of the make up artist currently finishing off in Holly's room. Again, I grabbed a few detail shots, before getting some shots of Lucy having her hair and makeup done.
The ceremony itself was due to be outside and at one point, it did look like the Hotel would have to run with plan B only for the weather to turn in our favour and the outdoor ceremony was back on.
The photo opportunities within the grounds of Coworth Park were just sublime and I took full advantage. The stone staircase made for the centre-piece of our groups shots, before we headed off to one of the many water features situated within the hotel grounds, before finally ending up in the meadow.
Coworth Park is an absolutely fantastic venue. A 5-star hotel and part of the Dorchester Collection of Hotels, situated in Ascot. The restaurant, aptly named Restaurant Coworth Park is run by Michelin-starred chef Adam Smith and my word the food looked good.
I can't complete this blog without mentioning the speeches. Following the ceremony, we headed to the Oval room and both Holly and Lucy had a few surprises up their sleeve.
First up to give her speech was Lucy, who just radiated confidence and gravitas throughout. A few tear-jerking moments followed, before she surprised Holly with a recorded video feed by none other than England World Cup Rugby winner Jonny Wilkinson, personally congratulating her. Holly is a keen sports fan and the shock on her face was priceless, as this was totally unexpected. Just as the room died down, Lucy had one more surprise, presenting Holly with a signed England Rugby shirt. A real moment.
After a short interval, it was Holly's turn. A very different approach to her speech, prepared around multiple musical tracks, which completely told a story in the most humourous way, before the introduction of a very talented musician who had worked with Holly to develop a very personal song about the couple.
The day itself seemed to fly by, finishing off the day with the cake cutting and first dance. I had an amazing time at this wedding and would absolutely love to shoot at Coworth Park again.
